Growing The Game of Golf

According to a new article in USA Today, the game of golf is in serious danger. Every year, about 1 million players stop to play the game for various reasons. The article mentioned as main reasons why people stop playing golf the high costs, games are taking too long and that it is too difficult to master.

Golf venues all over the nation saw steep declines of the player base ever since the recession hit in 2008. Once a sport for the rich elite, today golf clubs are literally begging for more members. Admission fees to the greens and the clubs are being reduced in an attempt to get more people interested in golf again.

A number of golf authorities and golf professionals are now openly voicing that the game needs significant changes so as to not lose any more players and to attract new ones.  What is your opinion? Can the game of golf be saved?
